The manatee is an animal with hidden grace.
Because of its gluttony and corpulence, it is called a sea cow; because of its agility and good character, a mermaid.
Sirenid or not, the manatee is a beloved animal. He has been a chubby little guy since he was little and everyone likes him. It can live 70 years or more. Manatee fathers can only have one calf, whose gestation period is 13 months, one of the longest among mammals.
