This is a story that was not a story. In other words, what she is talking about happened in real life to Costa Rican artist Karla Solano when she was a first grader. At first, when he told La Jirafa y Yo at a Saturday market in the hot sun, it was hard to believe him.
This publishing house lives by publishing stories, but it doesn’t eat stories. But then, when Karla wrote it and asked her daughter, Gabriela Zumbado, a budding artist, to illustrate it, the truth of the story grabbed us and El nido rojo was born. And we published it with great joy.
