There are many beautiful birds, with flamboyant plumage, majestic flights and extravagant behavior, which delight observers. Among them, the quetzales stand out.
As beautiful as a hundred hummingbirds put together, a male quetzal seems to have drunk liquid rainbows to captivate the future mother of his chicks. She recognizes the attractive giddiness of his feathers and his loving fidelity, and rewards him both with quetzalitos as beautiful as the father.
Every year, after so much hustle and bustle as the call of nature dictates, they lose some feathers, but with sun and fresh fruit they regain their lost weight.
They are a marvel, the quetzals of our lands. (GBG)
