Bats tend to get “bad press”.
They are seen as vagrant, harmful and ugly animals, when in fact they are very industrious, good at spreading seeds and cute (according to Batman and bats like to suck blood, usually that of livestock, and those are called vampires).
But of course, Dracula came along and now many people mistakenly believe that the blood of humans is the preferred drink of all bats… In this little book, made with love and care, you’ll find
quality, Anne Señol and Adián González manage to talk about the friendly side of bats, nocturnal creatures that illustrate the great diversity of Nature.
Bats get a bad rap. Perceived as harmful, loathsome roving creatures, they are in fact tireless workers, highly skilled at seed dispersal and frankly, rather attractive (in the eyes of Batman and La Jirafa y Yo).
The truth is, some species do enjoy a bit of blood-sucking (generally from livestock) earning them as a result the inglorious title of “vampires”.
And then along comes Dracula, erroneously cementing their reputation as lovers of human blood above all.
The aim of this little book, lovingly put together by Anne Señol and Adián González, is to introduce you to the friendlier side of bats, the nocturnal beings who so perfectly illustrate Mother Nature’s majestic diversity.
