Every country has its adventurous characters, rebels with or without a cause, who break out of the circle marked by the conventions of their time.
This is the case of Fadrique Gutiérrez Flores, a purebred herediano who scandalized the good people of the nineteenth century with his taste for this, political intrigue and skirt affairs, all tinged by his
provocative artistic tastes.
A crony of his cousin General Tomás Guardia, he helped bring him to power but soon fell into disgrace.
The lean cows of his existence, among which the banishment figures prominently, were followed by the canonries and the honey derived from the proximity to the powerful.
Today he is remembered only by a first name that is curious to us, and by an ortin that became the emblem of an entire province.
Anne Señol has pulled back the veil of this eventful existence that Adián González has drawn for the enjoyment of the followers of the PERSONAJES collection, published by La Jirafa y Yo.
