El tucán es un ave rara, inquieta y popular.
Especie de Pinocho del reino animal, ostenta un pico de vivos colores casi del tamaño de su cuerpo.
En algunas partes se le llama diostedé, porque eso parece decir cuando canta.
En Costa Rica hay por lo menos un sistema para hacer pagos, una agencia de viajes y un hotel que llevan el nombre de Tucán.
También figura en los billetes de cinco mil colones, conocidos ni más ni menos como tucanes.
Ojalá diostedé te dé muchos tucanes…

The Pinocchio of the avian kingdom, he boasts a flamboyant beak almost as big as his body.
In some parts of the world, the toucan is known as the “Fruit Loops” bird because of his association with the colorful cereal.
In Costa Rica, “Toucan” is the name of at least one travel agency, hotel, and payment system. The feathered creature also features prominently on Costa Rica’s 5000 colon bill, which is otherwise known as a “Toucan”.
But no matter the country, the toucan’s delightful demeanor thrills children of all ages.
